Since 1930
The Villa
Built in the 1930s and lovingly brought back to its former splendour, La Villa lets you live and breathe the atmosphere of colonial Indochina.
La Villa was built in the 1930s by a tradesman from Battambang, in the colonial architecture that was very fashionable during the French colonial period. The proprietor, Mr Eap Heo, later bequeathed his home to his two youngest children, who lived in the residence until the coup d'état of 1975.
After the Khmer Rouge period, the house became the general quarters for the Vietnamese army. It was given to a Cambodian general after their departure.
For many years the house was partially leased and squatted, before being sold in 2004 to a young expatriate couple, mesmerised by the charm and beauty of this ancient house.
After significant renovations, the house and its outbuildings regained their splendour in the form of a charming seven-bedroom guest house with a swimming pool — a place that captivates anyone wishing to relive an Indochinese atmosphere. We recreated the ambiance the house would have had in the 1930s: Art Deco furniture, period electrical fittings such as the fans, and old photographs faded by the passing of time.
